DEHORNING AT RIETVLEI
In November 2021 we completed yet another rhino dehorning exercise as part of our anti-poaching strategy at Rietvlei Nature Reserve.
This is an essential measure we take as part of conserving rhinos that are protected in the various reserves where we operate from. Harvesting the rhino’s horns, though a heart-breaking process, has proven to be an effective way of deterring poachers, and is a small price to pay to preserve the lives of these precious almost extinct animals. This is but one of the strategies we make use of, in addition to utilizing various forms of technology, our ERP Ranger teams, our 24 hour anti-poaching and dog unit as well as the drones of ERP Air Force.
