In view of the hunger and deprivation currently experienced in deep rural areas due to the Covid 19 lockdown in South Africa, which has resulted in job and income losses, we felt impelled to address the problem as much as it was in our ability to do so. Over the past 3 months, we implemented an Emergency Food Relief Programme, focused on providing much needed food relief to over 8000 families who are from current or future ERP land restitution partner communities. The beneficiaries were spread over 10 different sites across 4 provinces, namely Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal, Limpopo and the North West. Our blog post this week gives insight into this three month programme, and how and why we supported these communities during such a difficult time in societal history.
