Next week, we will kick-start the final round of our emergency food relief programme, as we once again aim to feed just under 3000 families spread over 9 different sites in 4 provinces of South Africa. This feeding scheme has been a 3 month effort necessitated by the corona virus related lockdown which has unfortunately affected a number of our beneficiaries as they have been left without means of earning an income. Because of this, many families potentially faced the threat of starvation. As a way of ensuring sustainability, ERP is already working with various structures within these communities to strengthen the long term impacts of our current feeding interventions, with plans underway to address reliable potable water supply issues, whilst also equipping these communities with an ability to grow their own food through community managed and owned gardens.
